Fergus Carmichael

Fergus Smyth is a Photographer and Digital artist Living and working in and around the southeast of England.

His personal photographic practice revolves upon the human form and the extremities it may be put through by choice and by nature. Currently focusing on the issues of support for the body and how it can take on form and shape we never naturally see. He became interested in the body as a subject via friends who practice alternative body art and by witnessing the sudden on set of old age within his elderly parents.

As well as focusing upon the body he finds great influence in just being out with his camera, witnessing life as it unfolds. This he believes is the Cartier Bresson within, something all photographers’ posses on varying levels. That is the beauty of the medium, being able to capture the moment that will never be again.
